A Coffee Drinker's Lament

I enjoy coffee shops and am suprised there are not many late night ones in Portland. I like Muddy Waters on Mississippi next to Mississippi Pizza. They stay open until 10 pm. Well, I should say, they did stay open until 10 pm. They have been closed a couple times I have driven by at night and so last night I walked up and looked at their hours. They have posted winter hours and currently close at 6 pm. This astonished me. A coffee house cutting back on hours. In the winter. When it is cold. And they serve hot beverages. Better to stay open late in the summer when the temperature is in the 90s and people are eager to sit inside sipping coffee? Am I missing something in this? Please tell me I am.
Anyway, I don't know of any other coffee shops open late in this area so I was somewhat annoyed by this.
In other news, I have been watching the Olympics. Makes me embarassed of how nervous I was going down those little slopes while cross country skiing.
